Bringing the Light Fantastic

Over seven weeks in November and December hundreds of people - either as individuals or members of groups or schools - will unite in making Lanterns using kits specially designed for these unusual times.

To add to the fun and to enliven our city we have commissioned three artists to build Big and Beautiful rickshaw mounted lanterns - creating a fully mobile lanterns spectacular!

The BIG Rickshaw Lanterns will be slowly cycling Bath city centre streets on Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th December, adding a trail of light to the gloaming as dusk approaches. The Rickshaws will pause along the way in open spaces, as and where they are able, for admiration and a little distanced interaction.

IF you plan on coming into town on those days, why not bring your lantern with you? Add your own light to the streets and enjoy seeing others doing the same!

Different arts organisations in the city including ArtSeen are running events in Bath's unique buildings and beautiful open spaces this Christmas as part of Bath at Christmas

Lantern Kits

Our Lantern Kits came in 3 designs using paper, willow and bamboo, but are now, sadly, all spoken for. St Mark's, St Saviours, St Andrews and Bathampton Schools, Bath Supports Refugees, The Holburne Arts Groups, St Johns Foundation and NHS staff at Bath Royal United Hospital were amongst the many participants in our Lantern Making.

If you'd like to register to receive a Lantern Kit for our 2021 event (we will be increasing our provision!)  contact us
